The Confucius Institute Headquarters have funded 48 Chinese teachers who roll out lessons in Mandarin Chinese, cultural awareness programmes, events and conferences from their Hub schools across local communities and partner networks.
The classroom hubs also work in partnership with a network of 111 other schools across the province to enable every pupil in Northern Ireland to have access to support for learning about Chinese language and culture.
Students are given the opportunity to sit international standardized exams which test and rate Chinese language proficiency. The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is typically taught to older students and adult learners, whilst the YCT (Youth Chinese Test) is more commonly taught at primary level. Both the HSK and YCT consist of 6 levels of proficiency through which the students can progress.
