The Student Wellbeing team would love your support to #SmashTheStigma and get the conversation around suicide started within our UU community.

We have organised a HOPEWALK on the Coleraine campus and want you to get involved.

If you sign-up using the link below you will get a free Papyrus purple t-shirt and we’ll also have refreshments available in the SU bar after our walk.

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide is the UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. Papyrus reports that suicide is the biggest killer of people aged 35 and under in the UK but they believe that many suicides are preventable by ensuring appropriate conversations take place.

Starting conversations about suicide is something that we all can do and can challenge the stigma as a community. Together, we can make a difference, so we hope to see as many as possible turn out for our Coleraine campus Papyrus HOPEWALK.

Our HOPEWALK will take place on Wednesday 16th October between 1-2pm, starting and finishing in the Students’ Union bar, beside the Student Wellbeing office E023.

We have two routes around campus identified, so you can either choose to take a short stroll with us around campus (about 15/20 minutes) or if you’re feeling more energised a longer walk of about 40 minutes. It’s a chance to take some time out, enjoy nature, chat and reflect, there is no set agenda.

Refreshments will be available in the SU bar area after our walk, so if you don’t have to rush off, please stay and have a chat.

Pre-register for the event to get a free purple Papyrus HOPEWALK t-shirt on the day.
