Antoinette’s story
After dropping out of my criminology degree at UU, I decided to go back & study law PT 2015-2020.
From my first tort lecture, we all knew that Ray would be a gem to work with. From his witty humour, comical anecdotes, down to earth personality and being an extremely supportive lecturer.
He really is one of the best that UU has to offer. He always went out of his way to ensure that his students felt comfortable and confident in his classes.
I remember contacting Ray on the morning of an exam to let him know that I wouldn’t be able to sit it due to very serious family matters.
Ray did something that I never imagined receiving from any other teacher or lecturer. He called me and asked that I come down to the campus and that he would walk around the grounds with me, going over my notes to ensure I had my focus.
He instilled in me a great sense of care and he genuinely wanted to see his students succeed.
For that I am still so grateful to him, as he fully embodies what UU is about - support and success.
I do miss ordering his cup of tea, just as a small gesture of appreciation for all of his hard work he puts into his modules and care given to the students.
Ray is a just ray of sunshine ☀️ and I hope he knows that.”
