Welcome Week can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming at times, especially with so many new people, sounds, and activities happening at once.

It’s understandable to need a pause, and you’re not alone if you feel this way.

If you ever find yourself needing some quiet, here are a few things you can do.

Use a designated quiet space

We have quiet spaces on each campus  for you to call in and enjoy some time alone or alongside other students.

Inside you'll  find a range of activities and games to do by yourself or alongside other people in a quiet two player game such as scrabble where you only need to chat if you want to.

Take a mindful moment

A short walk outside, some deep breathing, or listening to music can help ground you.

Set your own pace

You don’t need to attend everything. Pick the events that feel right for you and take breaks when you need them. If you need support or want to talk to someone, Reach out to Student  Wellbeing.

Join a quiet tour of the Library

Join the Library team for a tour of their facilities and study spaces. If you'd rather attend at a less busy time, you are invited to join a Quiet Tour.  There will be a maximum of five students on the tour which will last 15 - 25 minutes.

Pre-booking is not required.
