What is Hazaar?
With Hazaar Ulster students have access to their own student in app and in person marketplace. You can buy, sell, list with ease and simply upload items from other marketplaces with ease.
When you have bought/sold an item, arrange to meet up in a safe space on campus (highlighted in the app). Hand over the item and confirm the cashless payment via the app. All saving time and avoiding unnecessary postage and packaging.
The fun in person pop-up events and mini-markets on campus allows sellers with little or no experience a safe place to sell preloved, handmade items within the Ulster University Community.
Hazaar gives students the opportunity to earn and learn as Head of Hazaar (Katherine Harris) and a team of Hazaar ambassadors run programme within the university.
A note from Harriet
During my second year at university my friends and I found ourselves always Amazon Priming sports night costumes, when actually the sports night themes rotate around the different sports teams.
This meant that what I needed was probably lying on someone else's bedroom floor never to be worn again. To solve this I launched Hazaar on facebook marketplace.
The page hit 2,000 members in 24 hours. After speaking with friends at other unis and after much research I realised this was an opportunity for all Universities nationwide.
So I decided to make an app that allows every uni their very own zero waste marketplace and Hazaar grew from there.
