Memorable moments

At the beginning, my trip had to be delayed because of Hurricane Idalia. Thankfully, I informed the Study USA programme soon enough for them to change my flight plans.

New place, new culture

Just like how in America they drive on the right, they also tend to walk on the right a lot, which led to me being on the wrong side often on stairs and pathways.

The campus is kind of similar; however, it was by the water, making marine science classes out on the water more easily accessible. Also, there were more student spaces outside around the campus, unlike at Coleraine.

Challenges going abroad

It was challenging to explore the St. Petersburg area. Thankfully, the college had a shuttle that would go to places every so often, but I feel like there could have been more trips to explore.

Making friends

Making friends in class was easy enough. Everyone in my classes was absolutely lovely, and we knew we were all in this together.

Travelling and sightseeing

I travelled to California for Christmas as it was too expensive to fly home. So, I stayed with my best friend. We went off-roading at El Mirage, went to Las Vegas for a day, had sushi, and went to the Beatles Cirque Du Soleil. I got to experience Christmas with my best friend; it was definitely something else, and it did make me miss Christmas at home.

I went to California again in March for spring break and got my brother to come out for the week to visit. It was better to get him to come see me in California instead of Florida to experience another part of America. This time, we crammed in a lot of exploration: going to the Aquarium of the Pacific, the Korean Friendship Bell, off-roading again, the Los Angeles Museum of Art, and the Los Angeles Arboretum.

Advice

Do it! It's honestly such a brilliant experience. I know that it can be nerve-wracking to think about being in a different country for study, but you won't regret it.  I know if I had the chance, I would do it again!
