We all get the feeling of self-doubt and believing our success is sometimes down to luck rather than ability, despite evidence of our own achievements. This workshop will address these feelings and enable you to build self confidence, resilience and make the most of your university experience.

This workshop provides you with the understanding of IP in Higher Education, recognising its effects and signs and explores its impact on new students.  The workshop will also explore learning strategies to overcome IP and your support peers.

Intended Learning Outcomes

  1. Develop understanding of imposter phenomenon (IP) and its prevalence in higher education.
  2. Identify how the IP is manifested and its effects.
  3. Explore the implications of IP for students new to the higher education environment.
  4. Learn strategies to address IP in ourselves and ways to support others.

What we will cover

What IP is, how is shows itself and the effects this can have on those who experience it.  We will explore adverse thinking patterns and how to change these before looking at IP in higher education and what students who experience it can do to support themselves and others.
