Dr Mary McCann


Overview

Dr Mary McCann graduated from Ulster University with BSc Hons Human Nutrition, MSc Research and PhD in Nutrition. Mary currently holds the position of Lecturer in Human Nutrition and is Course Director on the BSc Hons Food and Nutrition programme. Her research at the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) has focused on the impact of food portion size on food and energy intake; the influence of nutrition labelling on food intake and behaviour in overweight and obese adults; maternal obesity, gestational weight gain and body composition in pregnancy; vitamin D requirements and recommendations. Her teaching specialisms include the assessment of nutritional status, nutritional controversies, health promotion and nutrition through the lifecycle.
