Mark Beattie
Overview
Mark Beattie is a lecturer in the English for Academic Studies Centre (EASC) at Ulster University, specialising in English for Academic Purposes (EAP). His current research and teaching focus on fostering student autonomy and teaching pedagogy, with an emphasis on practical EAP skills within diverse academic settings.
Mark’s previous work encompasses both teacher-centred and learner-centred classroom dynamics. He has explored the role of technology, including Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) software, in enhancing language learning beyond the classroom.
His research demonstrates how such tools can enable students to practise independently and improve their motivation. As a practitioner, Mark incorporates innovative teaching methods to help students acquire the competencies needed to thrive in both academic and professional contexts.
