Kerry-Ann Porter

Overview

A graduate of the School of Communication at Ulster University in 1997, Kerry-Ann Porter moved to a lectureship in the school in July 1999. One of the longest serving academic staff in the School, Kerry-Ann has assumed a variety of leadership roles in Communication over the years, particularly in the fields of Learning and Teaching and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  

She is presently Course Director of BSc (Hons) Communication Management and Public Relations. She is currently working towards the completion of an MSc in Counselling and Therapeutic Communication.

Kerry-Ann teaches on a number of Interpersonal Communication modules across the school, including the Social Psychology of Communication, Communication in Relationships, Group Interaction, and Life Transition.  She has published work in the fields of health communication and communication theory.

Currently, she is researching student’s experience of the transition from university to work. Her broader research interests lie in the experiences of transition throughout the lifespan and social identity processes in interpersonal and intergroup relationships.
