Dr Jessica Moore

Overview

Dr Jessica Moore graduated in 2014 with a Master of Pharmacy degree (1st Class Hons) from Queen’s University Belfast (QUB). Following completion of her pre-registration training in hospital and community pharmacy, she returned to QUB School of Pharmacy in 2015 to undertake her PhD within the Biomaterials and Infection Control group.

She was a postdoctoral researcher within the school from 2019 to 2023, involved in the development of polymeric and peptide biomaterials for both medical device and novel drug delivery applications. Dr Moore has significant experience working with academic and industrial collaborators, as well as commercialisation of research experience (early career researcher, Innovate UK ICURe programme).

In 2023, Dr Moore undertook a one-year post as a lecturer in QUB School of Pharmacy, teaching on BSc and MPharm degree programmes. She was later appointed, in June 2024, as a Lecturer in Pharmaceutics at Ulster University School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr Moore is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Research Summary

Dr Moore's interdisciplinary research focuses on engineering innovative biomaterials to address clinical problems. Her work integrates polymer science, drug delivery, chemistry, microbiology, and cell culture disciplines to develop and evaluate advanced biomaterials tailored for specific medical applications, such as infection prevention and the management of acute and chronic conditions.
