James Diffin


Overview

James Diffin holds a BA in Modern History and Geography, a MA in Irish History with research focusing on church history in the mid-nineteenth century, a Certificate in Third Level Chaplaincy Studies, and an ILM award in Leadership and Management. James has worked almost exclusively in education since graduating in 2008. He worked for six years in FE, holding posts in Learning Resources, Quality Improvement and Technology Enhanced Learning, developing skills in student support, library management, quality enhancement, and VLE administration.

James also worked for JISC as an eLearning Advisor, delivering training in digital technology across the FHE sector. In 2015, James began working for Queen’s University’s Learning Development Service as a non-subject specific tutor, providing academic skills support. James has a further eight years’ experience in FHE chaplaincies, providing pastoral care and mentoring. He is passionate about the student experience and providing holistic, person-centred support and encouragement for students.
