Dr Emily Royle
Overview
Dr Emily Royle graduated from Ulster University with a PhD in Human Nutrition. She currently works as a Research Associate within the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) on a range of funded projects (2024 – present).
Dr Royle is currently working within the Agri-food team responsible for the day-to-day management of the BioD project. Dr Royle also contributed to teaching within the School of Biomedical Sciences as a lecturer (part time; 2024- present).
Research Interests
Dr Royle is a Research Associate within the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE), School of Biomedical Sciences at Ulster University.
She graduated from Queen Margaret University with a BSc Hons (first class) followed by a MRes (Distinction), after which, she pursued a PhD within NICHE. As a post-doctoral researcher, Dr Royle has taken a lead role on a range of projects with the aim to improve nutrition across the lifespan, with a particular focus on vitamin D.
Dr Royle has experience of conducting controlled human intervention studies in different populations including children.
Teaching Interests
Dr Royle has held a number of teaching positions within the School of Biomedical Sciences (Teaching Assistant, Casual Lecturer). Her teaching interests include Human Nutrition (vitamin D), Biochemistry, and Immunology.
