Short Course: Innovation Management
About
The aim of the module is to introduce key concepts in the field of Innovation Management and to develop an understanding of both theory and application in a range of organisational settings.
The module covers Innovation Management from both theoretical and practical perspectives. It introduces students to the underlying processes of innovation within organisations or different types. Moreover, the nature of innovation-based business models is examined and critiqued.

- The dimensions of Creativity and Innovation
- Creativity and Innovation networks and systems
- Creativity and Innovation performance measures
- Learning and Knowledge Management models
- Learning and Knowledge Management in the context of Creativity and Innovation
- People of Leadership Criteria.
- Open and Closed Innovation
- Business Models
- Open innovation business Models
The skills learned on this course are transferrable to a number of organisations, sectors and roles.
The course is ideal for those in positions to effect change within their organisations.
Delivery format
- Teaching will be delivered face-to-face on the Belfast campus.
- The course is delivered in a 3 day taught block and is supported by online materials which students can access on demand.
- Students will also be expected to complete reading, research and write an assignment outside the taught days.
- The course is assessed via 100% coursework. You'll hand in a practical individual assignment based on your own organisation, to put knowledge to practice.

Entry requirements
You should hold a Second-Class Honours Degree or better OR have significant managerial / business experience.
Eligibility
Places are limited and open to applicants who:
- are over 18 years of age;
- are eligible to work in Northern Ireland;
- are ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least three years; or
- are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK.
