Aim

To support and engage in applied internationally leading and world leading research within the area of Peace, Conflict and Equality.

Scope

This research group has developed an internationally recognised reputation for multi-disciplinary research into intergroup conflict and psychological approaches to understanding and mediating the effects of intergroup violence and attitudes.

Recognition of the group’s research quality was endorsed in the REF 2014 results with the Peace, Conflict and Equality RRG being singled out by the Psychology REF panel for special praise.

“Some outputs from all research groups were judged to be world- leading, with particularly strong work in the Peace, Conflict and Equality research group, where the significance of the work was particularly outstanding”.

Research Impact

The applied nature of the group’s work is also evident through its engagement in the areas of Community Relations and Fuel Poverty which formed two high scoring impact case studies in REF 2014.

Professor Liddell’s impact case study on Fuel Poverty  was rated four star in REF 2014 and she was awarded an MBE in the recent Queen's Honours list for her work on Fuel Poverty in Northern Ireland and across the United Kingdom.
