Welcome to CARDS TalkDeck.
CARDS TalkDeck translates key research insights about features of spoken language into accessible resources for the study of spoken English. These include:
- structured data sets including transcripts and audio/video files from everyday language use
- presentation resources and handouts linked to the data sets
The data sets are structured to show how speakers use features of spoken language in a systematic and structured fashion.
Through these resources, CARDS TalkDeck aims to demonstrate the importance of empirical research to dispel some of the myths and prejudices that abound in relation to spoken language.
These resources have been developed by the CARDS team of spoken language researchers at Ulster University, drawing on current research in Conversation Analysis as well as on their own data sets and research projects.
