This Garfield Weston Trust funded project focuses on providing hands-on training for teachers and students in the practical use of Generative AI tools in Education through a series of workshops and conferences enabling participants to explore and use AI tools in a safe environment.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an emerging transformative technology in education, revolutionising teaching, and learning. Capable of producing human-like content, generative AI offers immense potential for enhancing all aspects of the educational experience.

Increasingly, generative AI in schools will be integrated into curriculum design, content creation, and personalised learning where educators can leverage AI-powered platforms to develop engaging and interactive learning materials, tailoring content to diverse learning styles and paces.

This personalisation will promote greater comprehension and academic achievement. Furthermore, generative AI enables the creation of simulations and real-world scenarios, allowing students to safely explore complex concepts through experiential learning. Beyond content creation, generative AI promotes critical thinking, creativity, and deeper understanding by challenging students to analyse, evaluate, and modify AI-generated outputs. Language barriers can also be overcome through AI translation, fostering cross-cultural communication and collaboration.

Significant opportunities exist for AI in assessment, feedback, and grading. Automated systems can efficiently evaluate student work, providing prompt, consistent feedback so educators can focus on individualised instruction and support. However, ethical concerns regarding data privacy and potential biases in algorithms must be carefully examined. Students need guidance in critically evaluating AI-generated information whilst nurturing essential digital literacy skills. This project will comprehensively upskill teachers in responsibly leveraging generative AI tools for teaching, learning, and assessment.

This project focuses on providing hands-on training for teachers and students in the practical use of Generative AI tools through a series of workshops and conferences featuring contributions from external experts and industry leaders to provide real-world perspectives while enabling participants to explore and use AI tools in a safe environment.
