Development of Digital Twin and Computer vision system for the metal additive manufacturing is an International Science Partnerships Fund (ISPF) funded project on going with international collaborators at IIT Jammu, IIT Indore and BIT Mesra in India along with Gyeongsang National University and Incheon National University in South Korea.

The focus of this project is to develop a digital twin-based defect monitoring system for the Laser-Directed Energy Deposition (L-DED) Process with an aim to manufacture affordable artificial biomedical implants. The team also working on building a computer vision system for the Micro-Plasma Transferred Arc (M-PTA) additive manufacturing process for defect monitoring and reducing.

The research focus of this project is on developing a smarter metal additive manufacturing (AM) process for manufacturing affordable artificial biomedical implants by reducing the defects and making AM technology more sustainable for biomedical materials.
