This research facility focuses on the application of state-of-the-art genome analysis technologies and genome editing tools to support and deliver cutting-edge biomedical research.
The Genomics Core Facility Unit is located in Ulster University's Biomedical Sciences Research Institute (BMSRI), based in Coleraine.
The Unit offers state-of-the-art equipment and a wealth of knowledge in several key genomic applications to support internal and external customers at a variety of levels of service dependent upon their needs. We support projects from planning and application stages including experimental design, costings and quotations through to sample preparation, quality control and analysis.
We are successfully developing and implementing the novel and highly powerful CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing tool to create knock-in, knock out and gene-up/down regulation models for a range of applications such as investigating gene function and altering it, correcting disease genes, creating disease models and biopharmaceutical research. We offer a high throughput service for developing gene editing of target genes of interest to the client.
We are continually implementing novel technologies and offer specialist expertise in protocol development, adaption and modification to suit each customers particular requirements.
Our services are available to investigators at Ulster University, other Universities within the UK and overseas and commercial partners on a fee-for-service basis.
