Real complaints: an alternative approach to evaluating complainant experience
The NHS places significant emphasis on learning from complaints and therefore on improving the patient experience of making a complaint. However, current survey methods used within the NHS for evaluating the complaints process are failing to provide adequate evidence. The Real Complaints primary research offers the possibility of an alternative approach to evaluating complainant experience. Our project will thus draw on the Real Complaints primary research in a collaborative co-design process with both patient complainants and NHS complaints managers to develop a quality assurance tool to address this key data gap in the evaluation of complaint handling performance indicators.
