Young musicians and composers from across the North West have been working with internationally renowned artists as part of the Walled City Music Festival this week.
University of Ulster composition students are taking part in a week-long series of workshops and master classes with Irish composer Linda Buckley at the Foyle Arts Building in Magee.
The young composers will also have the opportunity work with celebrated American flute and guitar duo Sabrina Hu and Matthew Slotkin, and will have their new composition performed and recorded by the duo.
Frank Lyons, Professor of Music at the University of Ulster, said: “This is a truly unique opportunity for these students to work under the expert guidance of three internationally recognised artists.
“The workshops and master classes that are taking place at Magee as part of the Walled City Music Festival offer young musicians and composers the chance to gain first-hand experience and to learn from world-leading artists.”
The Hu and Slotkin duo will also give the first performance of a specially commissioned new work by Professor Lyons, entitled Shake, in a Walled City Music Festival concert in First Derry Presbyterian Church on Tuesday 31st July at 7.30pm.
