The Szgeti Quartet return to the Magee campus this week to conclude the current series of chamber concerts presented by the Friends of the Ulster Orchestra, in association with the University of Ulster.
The Quartet, composed of young members of the Ulster Orchestra, will perform Haydn’s String Quartet in C, Op. 20 No. 2 and Ravel’s magical String Quartet. Christopher Blake will join the quartet for a performance of Mozart’s delightful Oboe Quartet, K370.
John Parr, Chairman of the Friends of the Ulster Orchestra, said: “The Szgeti Quartet have provided the backbone to this successful series and have impressed audiences with their sensitive and accomplished performances to date. For this concert they will be joined by the Ulster Orchestra’s Principal Oboist Christopher Blake for a performance of Mozart’s wonderfully catchy Oboe Quartet, which is guaranteed to conclude this series on an exuberant note.”Niamh Pearce, Cultural Development Officer at Magee added: “We have greatly enjoyed working in partnership with the Friends of the Ulster Orchestra to present this series of concerts at Magee and we look forward to the prospect to further collaborations in the future.”
The concert will take place in the Great Hall, Magee, at 8pm on Sunday 6 June.
Tickets cost £8 and £6 concession and may be booked in advance or purchased at the door. For further information or to book tickets contact the Cultural Development Office at the Magee campus on: 028 7137 5456.
