Dr Kevin Curran is a reader in computer science at Ulster and group leader for the Ambient Intelligence Research Group.
He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, a senior member of the Association for Computing Machinery, a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Dr Curran has made a significant contribution to advancing the understanding of computing, as evidenced by his involvement in over 600 academic works.
He has authored a number of books, holds several patents and is a regular contributor to radio and TV news in the UK. He is currently the recipient of an Engineering and Technology Board Visiting Lectureship for Exceptional Engineers.
Dr Curran is listed in the Dictionary of International Biography, Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering and by Who’s Who in the World. He has served as an advisor on computer industry standards to the British Computer Society and has chaired sessions and participated in the organising committees for over 100 international conferences.
He is the editor in chief of the International Journal of Ambient Computing and Intelligence and is also a member of 15 journal editorial committees.
His achievements include winning and managing UK and European framework projects and technology transfer schemes. Dr Curran has gained innovation and research support for his work to date, worth over £2million.
