The University of Ulster’s Sports Academy has launched its 2010 5k Road Race series.
Races take place across two Ulster campuses – at Coleraine on Wednesday 14 April, and Magee in Derry on Wednesday 21 April.
The race at the Magee campus incorporates the Northern Ireland 5k Championships and race one of the 2010 Furey Insurances 5k Series in association with City of Derry Spartans Athletics Club.
Dr Nigel Dobson, Co-Director of the Ulster Sports Academy, said: “The University of Ulster is delighted to be hosting another year of 5k road races. The University is committed to the development of sport in the community and the partnerships we have grown through this have lead to what will be a successful month of April for athletics.
“Ulster is continuing in its vision to become the leading university for sport on the island of Ireland, and bringing such top quality events such as these to the Coleraine and Magee campuses shows our ability and desire to bring the best to all those wanting to take part in sport.”
The 5k challenge at the Coleraine campus promises to be a family occasion with the added bonus of a one kilometre fun run for children up to 12 years old.
Race categories include, for males – open, over 35, over 45, over 55, Junior (under 18); and for females – open, over 40, over 50, over 60 and Junior (under 18).
