The LINKS team participated in two days of meetings in Tel Aviv to discuss how they might work together to support the development of early childhood development (ECD) programmes that seek to contribute to peacebuilding in Israel.

The meetings were organised in partnership with Kaye Academic College of Education and were hosted at the MSR – Israel Center for Medical Simulation and the MOFET Institute. A range of current work in health and education was explored that focused on promoting inclusion and peace in Israel. A number of similarities were identified in relation to this work and various initiatives being undertaken through the LINKS partner countries.

Speaking of the visit, LINKS Director, Professor Paul Connolly said:

“We have had a very productive and inspiring two days learning about the work currently being undertaken in relation to ECD for peacebuilding in Israel and sharing experiences and perspectives.”

“The issues facing the early childhood sector in Israel are complex and challenging. We were impressed by the commitment of colleagues working in this context to promote inclusion and respect for diversity and to challenge prejudices and discrimination.”

“There is much that the wider LINKS network can learn from this work in Israel and also, equally, much that our Israeli colleagues can learn from our LINKS partners. Over the coming months we will be continuing our conversations in relation to exploring how we can develop research collaborations.”
