If you are a current member of Libraries NI, the Northern Ireland public library service, and aged 18 or over, you can apply to join the Ulster University Library as a borrower.

Civic Access borrowers may borrow up to 2 standard loan books from any of our libraries. They can also request books to be sent between any of our campus libraries.

Civic Access membership of the Ulster University Library is usually available for the duration of your Libraries NI membership but initial membership is for a period of two years. Membership can be renewed as necessary.

Applications for the civic access borrower scheme must be made via the online application form. If you have difficulty with this please contact us using the details below. Your Ulster University borrower card will be sent to your home address.

We will send you a guide to using the library for Civic Access borrowers along with your new borrower card.

We regret that access to e-journals, databases and other online resources is not available to Civic Access borrowers because of strict licensing rules limiting access to current staff and students of the University.

Please note: Belfast campus has an access control system in place and 24hr advance notice is required to enable visitor passes to be prepared. Civic Access library borrowers should contact staff at Belfast library at least one day ahead of visiting to allow a visitor pass to be prepared. On arrival, Civic Access borrowers should present their Ulster Civic Access library card to staff at the ground floor Block BC reception and collect their visitor pass.
