Kenny McCartan has an undergraduate degree in ICT, and an MSc(Ed.) and PhD in the areas of Computer Based Learning and Distance Education. Kenny is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
He has worked in both Further Education and Higher Education in roles centred on eLearning and online teaching. In his current role as a Learning Technologist within Digital Services, his work focuses on administration of the University’s Lecture Capture, Interactive Polling and Online Surveys tools, as well as evaluating, piloting and implementing innovative and emerging technologies with colleagues in Digital Services and across Schools and Faculties.
He also provides regular training for staff and students on a range of technologies via Digital Skills events organised by Digital Services.
He has been a leading figure on University ICT-related projects including tablet technologies, wireless projection, video conferencing and streaming systems. He has also represented Digital Services in a number of Learning and Teaching Committees, University Steering and Working Groups, and course revalidation and he has published several journal articles in relation to the new technologies he has been involved in piloting at the University.
