Cathy Moore, Employability Consultant

Cathy is an Employability Consultant in the Faculty Partnerships Team within the Student and Graduate Success Directorate. She currently works with Ulster Law and Ulster Business School on the Belfast Campus to embed employability and enterprise into the curriculum and wider student experience, linking students, academic staff and employers.

Cathy qualified as a Secondary School Teacher in 2000 and has worked within Grammar, Secondary Schools and the Further and Higher Education sector ever since. Moving from modern languages into a Postgraduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Counselling in Magee in 2005, she has worked in Employability across statutory, further and higher education for 19 years. As the Chairperson for the Northern Ireland Schools and Colleges Careers Association 2011-2017, her Stormont Committee evidence was instrumental in the launch of the national Inquiry into Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance in 2012.

Joining Ulster University in 2017, Cathy has designed, delivered, and assessed curricular and co-curricular employability activities, modules, and programmes across more than 25 fulltime undergraduate programmes and a range of Masters programmes across Belfast and Derry~Londonderry campuses. She has supported course teams with numerous revalidations, advising on currency in the labour market and creating or co-creating bespoke employability modules for programmes in Ulster Business School on the Belfast campus.

Cathy’s effective collaboration with academic staff led to Collaborative Distinguished Excellence Awards in both 2021 and 2022. She has been involved in a number of innovative projects at Ulster University, such as Advance HE’s Dalrymple et al (2021): a case study on Co-design and partnership in employability provision.  Cathy continues to foster strategic partnerships with academic colleagues to enhance the student experience at Ulster.
