We are delighted that you are joining Ulster in January 2025 and we are looking forward to welcoming you!
We offer an exciting orientation programme which is open to all Study Abroad/Exchange students and it will give you an introduction to life in Northern Ireland as well as campus life at Ulster.
It is also a great way to prepare for academic study in the UK and make friends. Orientation will take place week commencing 20 January 2025 and further details for your campus are below:

Right to Study Check
All international students must provide evidence of their "Right to Study" before they can complete enrolment.
If you are a *Non-visa national you will be required to upload evidence that you have permission to study in the UK.
If you are a Student visa holder you must upload a photo of the stamped visa vignette in your passport to CAS Shield as soon as you have cleared UK immigration.
*Failure to provide evidence will result in access to online enrolment being delayed.
Enrolment
Once your modules have been reviewed you will receive an e-mail confirming the modules you should enrol on and you will be asked to complete online enrolment once you provided evidence of your validated "Right to study".
To complete online enrolment, you will need your Student ID number (e.g. B00123456) which you will find in your joining instructions email. Your PIN is your date of birth in the format ddmmyy.

If you need to amend your modules after you have enrolled, you can do so within the first two weeks of term by consulting with your home institution and study adviser.
Arrival on Campus
Upon arrival on campus, look out for our Global Ambassadors (they are wearing green t-shirts) who are there to assist you with the following:
- Full Compliance Check (bring your passport)
- Upload a photo (if you haven't already done so)
- Completion of Online Enrolment
- ID card printing
Once the above are completed you will be provided with your Student ID Card.
Don’t forget, teaching starts on 27 January 2025 and you must have arrived in the UK and enrolled by 20 January 2025.

Please ensure you register for our Study Abroad/Exchange Brunch Event - this is a great opportunity for you to meet other students, academic members of staff and you get to meet the Global Opportunities Team!
If you have any forms that need signed please bring them with you to the Brunch!

FAQ's

How do I access my timetable?
You be able to access your timetable once you have completed your online enrolment and have officially been registered as an Ulster student.
You will be sent an email to instruct you when to complete this.

When do I get my Ulster email address and access to the Student Portal?
You will receive your Ulster email address and access to the Student Portal once you have completed your online enrolment.
The instructions will be sent to you by email, along with confirmation of your module selection for that semester.

Am I required to attend a course induction?
As you are an exchange study abroad student you will not be required to attend a course induction.
These are only mandatory for students who are completing a full degree at Ulster.
Within the Orientation timetable there will be an opportunity to meet other study abroad exchange bespoke events.

How do I amend my modules?
If for any reason you need to change your modules, you must do so before the end of Week 2 by completing our module amendment form after you have consulted with your study adviser at Ulster and home institution.

How do I know who my study adviser is?
Find your study adviser.

Feel free to contact your Study Adviser, introducing yourself as they will serve as your primary point of contact throughout your studies at Ulster. Additionally, they can offer guidance on any academic inquiries you may have.

Can I withdraw from modules after week 3?
It may be possible to withdraw from a particular module after Week 3, but this is not assured. Approval for withdrawal will only be granted following thorough discussions with your home institution and your Study Advisor at Ulster.

I have documentation that needs to be completed for my home institution. Who can assist me with this?
If you receive documentation from your home institution that needs to be completed and signed, the Global Opportunities Team can assist you with most of these, such as the Letter of Confirmation and Certificate of Attendance.
However, it is important to note that the only document we cannot sign is your Learning Agreement, as that can only be signed by your Study Adviser at Ulster.

When, and how will I receive my transcript?
You, and your home institution, will receive a copy of your transcript by email once they have been released by the Examinations Office at Ulster
Semester 1 – mid January (students who attended semester 1 only)
Semester 2 – early July (students who attended for semester 2 and full year)
