How does your home institution campus compare to Ulster University?

My home institution provides a much more vigorous and advanced course level work. However at home, the faculty and staff are less willing to help and go out of their way for you.

What were your highlights from your mobility experience

One highlight I had here was in the first week of Orientation all the international students got to go on a trip together to the North shore. It was a great chance for us to meet each other and see a new place. The organization by the international group was great and I loved it all!

What cultural similarities/differences did you notice?

The people here in Northern Ireland are some of the kindest I've ever met. They are slow to welcome new people, especially those from America, but as soon as you start talking with them it's amazing! For me, the food here was very similar to home as well as the style and common curiosities.

What challenges did you encounter? And how did you overcome them?

A big challenge I faced was getting used to the public transportation system. It took a few days to understand but now I've got it down!

Did you find it easy to meet new people and make friends?

Yes! All of the international students were able to connect and make friends with each other very early on!

Did you travel to other places?

While studying at Ulster, I visited Luxembourg, Germany, Scotland, France, Italy, Spain, Ireland.

Any words of wisdom for students thinking about studying abroad?

Push yourself out of your comfort zone! You're only abroad fro a short time and you have to make the most of it!
