Before you leave home make sure you check off the items on our pre-arrival checklist to ensure that you have everything you need to make the best possible start here at Ulster.
Have you checked the following:
- Checked if you need to apply for a Tier 4 (General Student) visa or entry clearance to the UK? You may be travelling on a Short Term Student Visa (previously known as the Student Visitor Visa) but if you are a non-EU/EEA/Swiss student who will be studying at Ulster for six months or more you must apply for a Tier 4 visa. Get more information on countries in the EU and EEA and checking if you need a UK visa
- Arranged your accommodation and made the advance payment if necessary?
- Researched school and childcare options if applicable?
- Arranged travel insurance, medical insurance, insurance for your property if applicable?
- Obtained any relevant medical records, including vaccination certificates, and have them translated into English if necessary?
- Checked restrictions on goods which can be brought into the UK?
- Packed your luggage and checked the weight to make sure that it doesn’t exceed baggage allowance at the airport?
- Packed in your hand luggage your passport, CAS letter or Short Term Student Visa, original documents, accommodation confirmation letter, a small amount of British Pounds Sterling (about £300-£500) for initial purchases, any medication that you need during your travels?
- Checked on the restrictions on the amount of money you are allowed to bring into the country?
- Packed a laptop or tablet to access course materials and complete assignments?
- Completed the pre-travel section on CAS Shield and uploaded all relevant documents.
