If your visa vignette is lost, stolen or damaged in the UK
If your visa vignette is lost, stolen or damaged within the UK, you must:
- Notify the Home Office of the loss or theft
- Apply for a new passport
If you have not yet collected your BRP, the Home Office will advise you on what you must do in order to collect your BRP.
Please contact the compliance team for advice if your visa vignette is lost, stolen or damaged in the UK.

If your BRP is lost, stolen or damaged inside or outside the UK
If you have lost your BRP card or it was stolen, you must report this to the Home Office as soon as possible so they can cancel it.
You will not be able to use your BRP if you find it after you report it as lost or stolen. The Home Office will contact you within 1 working day of reporting your BRP as lost or stolen.

Replacing a BRP inside the UK
You can only apply for a replacement from inside the UK and if your BRP was valid for 3 months or more. You must apply for a replacement within 3 months.
Warning: You can be fined up to £1,000 and made to leave the UK if you do not apply for a replacement BRP in time.

Replacing a BRP outside the UK
If your BRP was lost, stolen or damaged outside the UK, you will need to apply for a ‘replacement BRP visa’. This will let you re-enter the UK once only. You must apply online in most countries. The ‘replacement BRP visa’ costs £154.
When you have re-entered the UK, you must apply for a replacement BRP . You must do this within 3 months of reporting your BRP as lost or stolen unless you have good reason why you were unable to do this.
Warning: You can be fined up to £1,000 and made to leave the UK if you do not apply for a replacement BRP in time.

If your passport is lost or stolen in the UK
If you have lost your passport in the UK you must report this to the police as soon as possible. Make sure that you are given a police report and a crime reference number.
You will need to apply for a replacement passport. Contact the Embassy of your home country to find out how you can apply for a new passport.
Contact the Compliance team immediately to let us know that you have lost your passport and again as soon as you have received your new passport.

If your passport is lost or stolen outside the UK
If you have lost your passport outside the UK you must report this to the police as soon as possible. Make sure that you are given proof that you have reported the loss/theft and try to get a crime reference number.
You will need to apply for a replacement passport. Contact your country’s Embassy, Consulate, High Commission or passport office in the country where you are. It may take some time to receive a new passport.
Contact the Compliance team immediately to let us know that you have lost your passport and again as soon as you have received your new passport.
