Please use this checklist to check which documents you need to submit with your Student visa application.  Please refer to your CAS for details of your offer.

Document Checklist
DocumentsNote

1. Passport

If you have received a new passport since we issued your CAS, please email a copy of your new passport to the Compliance team (compliance@ulster.ac.uk) so that we can amend your CAS.

2. TB certificate

Check if you need to submit a TB certificate.

3. ATAS certificate

Ulster University will let you know if you need an ATAS certificate.

4. Academic qualification

If you are a low-risk national, you do not need to submit your academic qualification for your Student visa application.

The academic qualification that we used to make your offer will be listed in the “Evidence used to obtain offer” section of your CAS.

Do not submit copies of any qualifications that are not listed on your CAS.

5. English language qualification

If you are a low-risk national, you do not need to submit your English language qualification for your Student visa application.

If your CAS states that “Higher Education Institution (HEI) sponsor has made assessment”, you do not need to submit your English language qualification.

If your CAS states that your English was assessed using a Secure English Language Test (SELT), for example a UKVI IELTS test, you must also input your SELT unique reference number in your Student visa application form.

6. Financial documents

If you are a low-risk national, you do not need to submit your financial documents before we issue your CAS or for your Student visa application; however, you must make sure that you have your financial documents available in the correct format as you may be asked to submit them. If you are unable to submit them in the correct format, your visa will be refused.

If you have been in the UK for 12 months or more and are making a new Student Visa application from within the UK, you will not need to meet the financial requirements or provide any financial documentation.

You must submit the financial documents that you submitted to the Compliance team before your CAS was issued. We have checked these and believe that they meet Student visa requirements.

If you are using your parents’ financial documents as evidence of your finances, you must also submit:

  • your birth certificate; and
  • a letter from your parents confirming that they will support you during your studies.

If you wish to use your spouses/civil partners financial documents as evidence of your finances, they must already be applying at the same time or they already have permission to be in UK. You must also submit:

  • your marriage/civil partnership certificate; and
  • a letter from your spouse/civil partner confirming that they will support you during your studies.

7.  Certified translations of all documents that are not in English

Documents that are not in English must be translated by a certified translator according to UKVI regulations. The original translation must contain:

  • confirmation from the translator/translation company that it is an accurate translation of the original document
  • the date of the translation
  • the translator’s/an authorised official of the translation company’s full name and signature
  • the translator’s/translation company’s contact details.

8.  Police Registration Certificate

From 4 August 2022, there is no longer a requirement to register with the police. This applies to all nationalities.

When you have completed your online Student visa application form, you will receive a list of the documents that you must submit.
