Course Overview:
Day 1 – Leading Self and Others
We’ll start by exploring your unique skills and strengths—qualities that are essential for success in a dynamic and ever-changing workplace. You’ll gain tools for managing yourself, building emotional intelligence, and staying resilient through challenges. We’ll focus on personal knowledge management, helping you organize your thoughts and ideas, and prepare to lead with confidence.
Next, we’ll dive into the core of leadership by exploring how to lead and manage people effectively. You’ll learn about different types of organisations and discover how individuals, teams, and leaders operate within them. Understanding these dynamics will help you feel more confident in your leadership abilities and the role you play in fostering a positive workplace culture.
Day 2: Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Innovation is key to staying relevant and thriving in any business environment. In this session, you’ll explore how organisations build a culture of innovation and how you can harness your own entrepreneurial mindset. You'll leave with practical strategies for encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and forward-thinking in both your personal career and in the teams you lead.
Day 3: Communication & Presentation
Effective communication is the foundation of success in any role. This day will focus on helping you refine your communication and presentation skills—whether you’re leading a team meeting, delivering a presentation to senior management, or building relationships with colleagues. We’ll also delve into the importance of understanding interpersonal dynamics and how your behavior and responses shape workplace culture and values. By the end of this day, you’ll feel more confident in your ability to express your ideas clearly and influence others positively.

Course Duration and Delivery Format
Course start date: January 2025
The course will be taught from the Derry-Londonderry Campus and online. and delivered over 7 weeks.
Students will be expected to attend 3 live online classes, the classes will last for 2 hours. Between live online classes, students will complete self-directed learning.
Teaching, Learning and Assessment
The course will be taught online through a blend of live lectures and self-directed learning.
The course is 100% coursework. Assessment will take the form of two online tests which take place in week 4 and 7 of the course.

Course Entry requirements
You should hold a Second-Class Honours Degree or better OR have significant managerial / business experience.
Fee Funding Eligibility
Places are limited and open to applicants who:
- are over 18 years of age;
- are eligible to work in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland (ROI);
- are ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK or ROI for at least three years; or
- are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK or ROI.
