ESD resources hub
Purpose
The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) resources hub was developed to share collated resources to help colleagues within the faculty embed ESD into their learning and teaching. The hub includes resources from all disciplines across UUBS and can be used to inform ESD and be applied as part of learning activities and assessment.
Participation
The ESD hub was shared with colleagues at the faculty Learning and Teaching event in June 2023 as part of a presentation on embedding ESD into the curriculum by Dr Bronagh Magee and was included in the faculty Learning and Teaching Summary of Key Policies document shared with all colleagues. In tandem with the annual SDG Teach-In, Dr Bronagh Magee, Dr Marc Duffy and Dr Susann Power hosted an ESD-hub workshop for all UUBS colleagues in February 2024, to spotlight how these resources could be used to raise awareness of the SDGs during the annual Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS) SDG Teach-in.
Impact
The ESD hub resources are available to all colleagues and are particularly beneficial during course revalidation when colleagues are planning how they will embed ESD into the curriculum, as well as engaging in initiatives such as the SDG Teach-In.

Sustainability Games
Aim
UUBS Sustainability Committee aims to offer students and staff opportunities to address pertinent sustainability issues using engaging games, fostering a dynamic learning environment.
Purpose
To develop further the pedagogic practices of UUBS staff by integrating sustainability teachings through games and immersive experiences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Participation
Dr Bronagh Magee and Dr Lisa Harkness actively participated in a workshop focused on immersive sustainability games. Dr Marc Duffy and Dr Judith Wylie have also collaborated with internal and external partners to explore additional avenues for incorporating sustainability teaching through games.
Impact
The collaborative efforts of the team have resulted in the formation of a working subgroup dedicated to exploring further the potential of implementing sustainability games into both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. The subgroup aims to provide valuable opportunities for both staff and students within UUBS.
