Professor Mark Durkin, Executive Dean of Ulster University Business School (UUBS), has been elected to the international board of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) by the members. The Institute is over 100 years old and is the world’s leading professional marketing body with over 30,000 members across 36 countries.
Mark, who is a Professor of Marketing in UUBS, has a long history with CIM having been a member for over 25 years and served as a board member for Ireland for 10 years. He then chaired the Ireland board and established the first CIM (Ireland) SIG focused on financial services marketing in 2005. He was named ‘CIM Marketing Person of the Year’ in 2006 in recognition of service to marketing education in Ireland.
On his election result Mark said,
“I am truly honoured to have been elected by the members to the board of CIM. The professional role of marketers in organisations across the world has never been more important in my view, as we navigate our way through the pandemic’s impact on future business practice and we seek to identify and transform opportunity in a post-Brexit economy across the UK and EU”.
Mark takes up his position after the Institute’s AGM in December.
