This session focuses on a stakeholder-driven and inquiry-based approach to enhancing accounting education and practice. It aims to create a space for discussing the challenges of introducing theoretical concepts to undergraduate accounting students.

The session is particularly relevant for educators interested in bringing contemporary issues—such as accountability, organizational impact, and the role of accounting in society—into the classroom.

Discussion questions:

  • What are the key theoretical elements or dimensions and what are the pedagogic challenges of going beyond current emphases?

Organisers include:

  • Mengyuan Feng (University of Glasgow)
  • Jim Haslam (Durham University)
  • Susan Smith (UCL)
  • Ian Thomson (Dundee)
  • Joan Ballantine (Ulster University)
