At the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science, we marry modern and innovative teaching with state of the art facilities, helping you to work as a pharmacist in today's changing health service.
It is an exciting time for the profession of pharmacy and many changes have occurred over the past few years. The role of the pharmacist is very different today from what it was several years ago, with many pharmacists becoming more fully engaged in providing healthcare to patients in both the hospital and community sectors.
It is a challenging and rewarding role and one that gains the respect of other healthcare professionals.
At Ulster University, you can be confident of learning in contemporary and state-of-the-art facilities.
You will learn the basic sciences that underpin the development of medicines and also gain the clinical knowledge that will allow you to dispense, and possibly prescribe, these medicines in the future.
We have established close links with the excellent pharmaceutical services that surround the University, such as those in neighbouring community pharmacies and the local pharmaceutical industries.
With regard to hospital pharmacy, we are part of the clinical pharmacy teacher practitioner network and have forged a very good relationship with the surrounding Health and Social Care Trusts. As a student in the school, we will ensure you experience all that pharmacy has to offer as you begin your studies with us.
We have a small and sociable school with about 35 students in each year.
You can be confident of a friendly welcome and that you will receive the time and attention you need from staff so you can achieve your full potential.
We are fully accredited by the two pharmaceutical regulators in the UK (The General Pharmaceutical Council and the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland), and have been top of the Guardian league tables for Schools of Pharmacy and Pharmacology in the UK for the last three years (2017, 2016 and 2015) in succession.
