Showcasing and Empowering Women in STEM (SEWS)
Inspiring the Next Generation of Women in STEM
Showcasing and Empowering Women in STEM (SEWS): Inspiring the Next Generation confronts the pressing challenge of promoting gender diversity within the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Gender stereotypes perpetuate the perception that STEM fields are more suitable for men, leading to fewer women pursuing education and careers in this area. Women often lack visible role models and mentors who can provide guidance and career advice.
The absence of female mentors can deter young women from pursuing STEM careers and hinder their professional development in these fields. These challenges highlight the urgency to promote gender diversity and inclusion and inspire young women to pursue STEM education and careers, igniting their passions and aspirations. This initiative aims to unlock the untapped potential of women in STEM and cultivate the next generation of leaders.
We are excited to launch the HER-STEM Survey, a key initiative under the Showcasing and Empowering Women in STEM (SEWS) project. This work, funded by the Garfield Weston Trust, is led by the School of Engineering - Ulster University in collaboration with the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, Ulster University, University of Derby, Queen’s University Belfast and the University of the West of Scotland.
The first 200 participants will receive a £10 Amazon voucher as a token of our appreciation.
This survey is specifically for participants who identify as female and are affiliated with STEM related disciplines from Ulster University, Queen’s University Belfast, University of Derby, or the University of the West of Scotland., Please use your university email address to enable you to be eligible to receive the voucher.
