Focusing on what dyslexia means to each of us as an individual, learn how creative writing can help us to understand ourselves and the benefits of expressing our thoughts and feelings through writing creatively.

Discover other peoples’ experiences of dyslexia through poems, songs and stories. Work together as a group to generate ideas and identify what you want to say about dyslexia.

Examples and prompts to support writing will be provided throughout each stage of the session.

This 2-hour workshop will have three themes:

  1. What does dyslexia mean to each of us as an individual?
  2. How creative writing can help us to understand ourselves.
  3. The benefits of expressing our thoughts and feelings through writing creatively.

Other peoples’ experiences of dyslexia will be explored through poems, songs and stories. Through techniques such as clustering and free writing, young people will work together, generate ideas, and identify what they want to say about dyslexia.

Come and take some time to let go of everything that makes writing hard and simply focus on being creative with words.
