Riverside Youth Theatre Assistants are responsible for supporting a positive, safe and encouraging environment for children and young people to develop and flourish creatively.

Outline of Activity

The Riverside Youth Theatre runs throughout the year allowing children and young people to explore, discover, learn, experiment and collaborate with professional facilitators through a range of theatre arts in a safe workshop environment. Riverside strongly believes that every child and young person can discover vital communication and presentation skills and confidence that will help them develop into adulthood. This year the group will also be working with two local history groups to produce unique historical fiction shows (Mountsandel Heritage & Girona Gold Legacy on the North Coast).

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain a knowledge of working public arts & cultural building.
  • Gain a knowledge and receive training of Ulster University Child Protection policies and procedures.
  • Develop communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Gain experience of best practise delivering creative programmes to children and young people working alongside professional arts and education facilitators.
  • Gain a knowledge of local history and heritage.

Assessment Details

Complete a workbook/log reflecting the skills you have developed during participating in this activity. This will be verified by the Riverside Theatre Manager.

Level of Commitment

40 hours to include

  • On Saturdays x two 10 week terms
  • 2 hours per week
