Read about Graduate AttributesThis course aims to develop healthcare personnel with the knowledge and skills needed in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, simple airway management and safe defibrillation (manual and/or AED).
The addition of these skills and thisqualification enhances students’ employability potential by having a nationally recognisedcertified qualification in core skills that are desirable for a wide range of healthcareprofessionals. Successful completion of the course provides the student with a certificate ofachievement issued by the Resuscitation Council (UK) that is valid for a period of one year.
Students will:
Lectures cover the following subjects:
Demonstration There is one Cardiac Arrest Simulation Teaching demonstration where the emphasis is placed on managing patients until the arrival of the cardiac arrest team and on participating as members of that team.
Skills Simulation Stations:
Assessment is continuous throughout the face-to-face component of the course, whereby students are assessed against a criterion based assessment for each skills station. Should a student not be successful on the first attempt, they are given formative feedback and can retake that skills station for a second opportunity.
