Transform lives and local communities with our part-time BSc Hons Community Development programme.

Do your students want to empower those without a voice, bring about social change and improve the quality of life for people in disadvantaged areas? Then Community Development could be the course to maximise their skill set!

Students will be introduced to a core body of knowledge and debate on issues relating to inequality and social injustice. They will have an opportunity to explore local and international contexts, in order to gain critical awareness of the role which community development can play in tackling inequality, socio-economic disadvantage and marginalisation across the world.

The nature of this part-time course allows students to pursue employment and gain experience while studying for their degree. Typically, they will attend class 1 day per week over the four-year course duration. There are three work-based, assessed practice modules, each of which require approximately 15 hours per week over 20 weeks.

Add travel to the study experience! There are exciting opportunities for those who wish to undertake a placement abroad.

This professional qualification equips students with the skills to work in a wide range of positions within the community and voluntary sectors, as well as in the public sector.
