We are excited to announce a new development on our beautiful and historic Magee campus. In combination with a main subject in Business, Computing, Drama, Irish or Music students can now now study Education.
Education as a Minor subject has been a highly popular course combination on the Coleraine campus for over 15 years. The popularity of this course has driven a demand to also provide this subject on our Magee Campus. Students will have an opportunity to explore themes in contemporary educational issues, physical and mental wellbeing, learning and teaching with technology and inclusive educational practices to name but a few. This dynamic new course will be highly experiential and provide opportunities to develop a diverse industry desired skillset. As part of this programme students will gain NSPCC child protection accreditation and acquire industry placement experience.
Graduate opportunities
Many students will progress into formal educational roles through a PGCE programme. Others will explore industry training and educational careers based in the field of their main subject.
What do our current students think?
‘Within the academic environment of Ulster University, I have always found the most joy within Education as a minor. Whether this be through group work, presentations or seminars, I have always felt valued as an individual and have flourished underneath the mentorship of my lecturers’. Amiee - graduating 2020 and about to begin a PGCE in English
‘Education staff helped guide me into how I could harness the module content to help me build up a skill set which would set me apart from other applicants in my career path. Due to my experience with the Education staff and the content of their modules I highly recommended it to new students who are currently applying for University places. Education as a minor has supplemented my learning and degree overall which I thoroughly recommend to new students’. Will - graduating 2020 moving to a career with the PSNI.
