Recognition & Identification of Patients

Early recognition of, and response to patients with a diagnosis of dementia is essential so that they receive safe and high-quality person centred care.

Following identification of a patient with a diagnosis of dementia, a purple sticker is to be placed on the patient's identification band, and a purple sticker on their case notes. The reason for purple being that this is the internationally recognised colour for dementia awareness.

Staff should where possible obtain history and/or information of any diagnosis of dementia initially from the patient, carer or family.

Case Study

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
