Dr Lorraine Holloway
Dr Lorraine Holloway is the Research Assistant and Project Lead on Phase 3 of the Architects of Change project.
Lorraine is a passionate social researcher who holds a PhD from Queen's University Belfast, where she investigated how place-related emotions can influence decision-making in rural Northern Ireland, and an MSc in Communications, which explored how community engagement can serve as a catalyst to overcome social isolation and loneliness. This research experience has equipped Lorraine with a deep understanding of the intricate interplay between emotions and decision-making processes.
Fostering a holistic approach to her research investigations and developing an innovative qualitative methodology has also resulted in the publication of her research.
Prior to joining Ulster University, Lorraine worked at the University of Galway as a Post-Doctoral Researcher exploring women-led rural innovation as part of the EU HORIZON FLIARA project and has also worked as a Demonstrator at Queen's University, delivering core Human Geography modules to undergraduate students. Lorraine has also accumulated 15 years of experience in the financial and marketing sectors in Ireland and New York.
Lorraine's prior social research and a strong commitment to educating and nurturing the next generation will enhance the Architects of Change project's upcoming phase.
Through this initiative, Lorraine will motivate students to recognise how their emotions toward their local communities and homes can influence their environment now and in the future.
