If you received additional help or extra time in your exams at school, have a disability or additional study need such as Dyslexia, ASD, a mental health condition or long-term illness, we can provide you with support to help with your studies. We can also provide guidance on additional funded disability support that may be available to you.


If you have not informed us through your application form, please contact us directly. All information provided is treated confidentially and does not impact your application with Ulster University.

Student Wellbeing

No matter what, we are here for you.

Student Wellbeing is a holistic service providing advice, support, and guidance throughout your university journey on a range of matters including: your general wellbeing and mental health, disability and additional study needs, student funding, budgeting and financial support, as well as counselling services.


Each campus has a dedicated Student Wellbeing destination where you can receive confidential advice and support. Students can also access a number of support services 24 hours a day.

Additional Financial Support

We want to ensure that every young person has the financial means to go to university. We, through our Widening Access team, continue to invest in financial support for those students who need additional help.

Below are several programmes currently available to 25/26 students* subject to eligibility:

  • Access Bursary - An annual bursary of 10% of the annual student fee
  • Accommodation Vouchers - New students who are eligible for Access Bursary can apply to convert this into an accommodation voucher of  £1,000
  • Care Leaver Bursary - An annual bursary of £1,000. Recipients of this bursary will also receive additional ongoing support
  • Community Scholarships – Annual bursaries up to £3,000 depending on scholarship. Recipients of these scholarship will also receive ongoing support

Your UUSU

Ulster University Students’ Union (UUSU) is a not for profit, charitable membership organisation which was formed in 1984 as an independent body to Ulster University.

UUSU currently represents approximately 25,000 student members and provides a vast range of services for members including academic representation, welfare advice, volunteering opportunities and enhancement of the student experience through events, activities, clubs, societies and change programmes.
