In this ‘Graduates in the Spotlight’ feature, alumni Cara Marks and Gary Gates share their journey to create safe spaces both online and in person for neurodivergent people across N.I., as well as promoting neurodiversity within the workplace.

What  is SPARK?

SPARK is a fresh and dynamic neurodivergent networking group based in Northern Ireland. It’s all about creating real connections and support for folks with ADHD and other neurodivergent conditions.

The group mixes online and in-person meetups, offering a platform for members to share experiences, access resources, and enjoy a vibrant community. It’s focused on empowering individuals, raising awareness, and promoting neurodiversity in the workplace.

Spark aims to build a strong, inclusive community that values and supports the neurodivergent population in Northern Ireland.

Creating a SPARK in the Community

SPARK held their first family fun day for neurodivergent families in the R2 Royal Avenue in August past.

During the event, SPARK included many activities, such as drum workshops, face painting, storytelling, art workshops, Virtual reality games, craft and books for sale.  SPARK has also made great connections as this event was supported by many organisations including NOW Group, Bolster, Glow Girl NI, Ascension, Feel Good Hypnosis, Still I rise and more.

For their first family day, they had over 300 attendees, which means the future is definitely bright for SPARK!
