The University was delighted to welcome Mark Ennis, SSE Ireland’s Chairman, to the Belfast campus of the University in September to launch the 2017 SSE Airtricity Scholarships.
The Scholarships are open to students who live in County Derry~Londonderry or County Tyrone, and are supported directly by the Regional Fund for the company’s nearby Slieve Kirk Wind Park. The Scholarships are available for a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across the University. With funding support for approximately 50% of tuition fees, the Scholarships are not only extremely prestigious but are also very generous.
Mr Ennis said: “We’re delighted to be helping more Ulster University students take the next step in their academic journey. Since we launched the SSE Airtricity Scholarship in 2014, the number of applications has increased year on year, which goes to show the impact of the programme and the importance placed on education by local young people and their families.’
Professor Alastair Adair, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Ulster University said:
“The SSE Airtricity Scholarship has proven to be truly transformative and has enabled students, at times in challenging circumstances, to access higher education, complete degree courses which are aligned to a key growth sector, and make a positive contribution to the societies that they live in."
The SSE Airtricity Scholarship Programme is open to students from Co. Derry~Londonderry and Co. Tyrone enrolled on a range of courses and covers approximately 50% of their tuition fees. The closing date is Friday 20 October.
