At the end of August, Ulster University celebrated our 2020 Excellence Awards, now in their tenth year.
The awards are an annual celebration and recognition of our outstanding industry partnerships; partnerships which have made a contribution to our societies and economies, both nationally and internationally.
They seek to recognise and reward placement partnerships that have enriched the personal and professional development of our students and cutting-edge collaborations between our academics and researchers with external partners.
The awards were held online for the first time due to the global pandemic, which of course meant we were unable to host a physical event this year. Awards categories reflected the breadth of external partnerships across the university, including: Public Sector Partnership, Business Partnership (Over 50 Employees), Business Partnership (SME - Under 50 Employees) and Global Partnerships.
Additionally, we crowned one winner from the above categories as the overall Research Partnership of the Year. We also celebrated staff and student nominated placement partnerships.
With over 150 nominations, 2020 was yet another tough year to judge, with so many partnerships delivering an outstanding contribution to the communities we live in.
Well done to all our winning partners, including:
- Allstate
- Axial3D
- Extern
- Jedlik Anyos Gimnazium
- Medea S.r.l
- Stryker
- Titanic Foundation
- Samaritans Ireland
- South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust
- Randox
To name but a few.
Many congratulations to all our finalists and winners – the full list can be found on our dedicated webpages, where you can also watch the online final if you missed it in August.
‘As a civic university, we are constantly working to deliver outstanding research and teaching that makes a difference around the world. Every day we are stretching minds, embracing challenges and pushing back the boundaries of what is conceivable. Together, we are stronger which is undeniably highlighted in the successful partnerships we have formed with our industry partners.’ – Paul Bartholomew, Vice-Chancellor
